Christiana Dufie Asamoah

Christiana is a biomedical scientist with a Bsc Medical Laboratory Science and an MPhil Molecular Biology. With over seven years of experience in clinical laboratory and research, she is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning carcinogenesis. She has led studies in metabolic and viral induced breast carcinogenesis. She is interested in translating research into diagnostics and therapeutics through biotechnology, collaboration and mentorship.Christiana hopes to identify genomic signatures unique to cancer patients in the African population. These signatures would be invaluable in developing therapeutics with the aim of alleviating the cancer mortality rate in the African population.

As a Microbiologist at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital with over 7 years of experience, Linford seeks to investigate the human microbiome’s role in bacterial infections, such as Urinary Tract Infections and sepsis. His research focuses on identifying biomarkers that can inform personalized medicine approaches and optimize antimicrobial stewardship. By applying systems biology methodologies and leveraging advancements in biotechnology, he aims to uncover the underlying mechanisms of microbial interactions and host responses through mentorship and knowledge sharing, to enhance patient outcomes, mitigate antimicrobial resistance, and contribute to evidence-based clinical practices. Ultimately, his goal is to translate scientific discoveries into tangible improvements in healthcare.
